Sunday Shot 8-Ball Tournament Rules "Ball in hand"

DOUBLE ELIMINATION WITH 50/30/20 PAY OUT.  The balls are racked with the 8-ball in the centre of the rack with a low and high ball in the lower corners of the rack. The first player to make the 8-ball on a legal shot wins (after they have pocketed all of their own balls). When shooting the 8-ball no other balls can be pocketed on the same turn, otherwise it is a loss of game. Until a player calls a ball and pocket and makes a legal shot, the table is still considered open (either opponent can shoot for high balls or low balls).

LEGAL SHOT:  A shot is legal if you make an object ball in the pocket called by yourself, or if you drive a ball to a rail, or make the cue ball hit a rail after hitting a ball. ( If a ball is frozen to a rail that rail does not count and a ball played or the cue ball must hit another rail to be a legal shot.) A player must hit one of his balls first in order for the shot to be legal. Any other balls that drop on a legal shot count, if the player makes the ball called in the pocket called. The only exception is if the player sinks the 8-ball in which case is a loss of game.

FOUL:  A foul results when a player fails to make a legal shot, scratches (pockets the cue ball), or jumps a ball off the table. If the 8-ball is jumped off the table it is a loss off game, any other numbered ball is placed on the foot spot or as close as possible, immediately behind any ball in the way of the foot spot. A foul results in "ball in hand"

BALL IN HAND:  The player with ball in hand may place the cue ball anywhere on the table they wish. The only exception is the shot immediately after the break (first shot of game) in which case, the cue ball is placed behind the head string and the player may only shoot up table. The player must contact a ball that is ahead of the head string (this is determined by where the centre of the object ball makes contact with the table). If the shooting player moves a ball by accident, the opponent shall place the ball as close as possible to its' original position, immediately after the shooting player has finished the shot and play resumes.

During game play, any close calls are to be judged by a third party or the tournament director and their decision is final.
